I'm a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes and knew that comic strip a long time before I became a South Park fan, because we didn't have the channel in which the german version of South Park airs.
Anyway, the children, especially in the earlier seasons, kinda remind me of Calvin. Calvin seems a bit like a cross between Cartman, Kyle and Butters to me. He's just as much of a brat like Cartman, has an imagination like Cartman and Butters , overreacts a lot and is as thoughtful as Kyle. I had to think about him in the scene in GTWW, when Butters imagines himself as a warrior and his mother wants him to do her a favor.
Pip: Besides, I hate french people.

Yep. I like those comics, they're so much better than half the stuff that's out here these days. My brother got the hardcover collection (3 volumes, real expensive). It's cool.

Anybody ever go out in the snow to make your own deranged mutant killer monster snow goon? It's actually really tough to make something that looks hideous out of snow.

I remember trying to build a giant snow goon a few years ago. Only got as far as the bottom part, because once they let our dog out, she ran right to the mammoth snowball and started digging it apart!

We need to get some favorite quotes in here. Anyone wanna start?

Calvin and Hobbes was absolutely brilliant. That comic strip is/was sheer genius.

There are so many profound moments in that series it's hard to single any one out, but one of my favorites is when Calvin is sitting in class and he asks his teacher:

"Given that, sooner or later, we're all just going to die, what's the point of learning about integers?"

The world needs the voice of Bill Watterson today.

BTW, OP, thanks for starting this thread.

the one quote that has stuck in my mind went something like this:

"So you want me to lie?"
-Calvin, after his mother scolds him for not wanting to share the last piece of pie.

All this past week, another comic strip series paid tribute to C&H. "Lio," an overly-imaginative kid himself, ends up seeing the characters come to life, right out of his own book!

Saw a couple of these, and couldn't help but laugh.

I've never read a paper with the comic in but i'm a massive fan from what little i've seen on the web. I wanna get the collection on E-bay but A) i'm not allowed to buy of teh net, and B) i has no money. Do you know any sites with screen prints?
