Mayor Ed Koch of New York, 88 :(

New York City's three-term Mayor died at 2:00 am New York Time today (Friday, February 01). He loved Manhattan, and while proud of his Jewish Faith, he bought a plot at Trinity Church as it still had cemetery space available in the borough of Manhattan.

Active in Democratic politics, he crossed party lines when he felt it was the right thing to do supporting the first George Bush in his election for President.

Mayor Koch (a lawyer) also became Judge Koch for awhile on "The People's Court," before Judge Judy's husband did a stint there and currently Judge Milian.

Mayor Koch will certainly be missed, not only by New Yorkers but by the whole country. R.I.P. Mayor Koch.
