Don't agree with the prevailing negativity here at all.

To me, the last few episodes have been pretty funny, especially Dawn of the Posers. I don't know what everybody is whining about.....

Taming Strange and Dawn of the Posers made me laugh. Informative Murder Porn was good too. Have to say World War Zimmerman wasn't as funny.

But hey....I can't see what warrants all this criticism. Seems just like any other season to me, with some episodes better than others.

Halfway through the season and I can't say I'm "bummed". A lot of middling episodes and only one that really impressed me (Informative Murder Porn). But there's always something to get me laughing even in mediocre episodes; even bad ones have their moments.

I caught part of Million Little Fibers recently and I forgot there was actually a few good moments in there with Towelie that I had forgotten about; overshadowed by all the unfunny Oprah stuff.

Point is, even if I don't love every episode, I am still entertained. I am still interested in seeing new adventures for these characters. And I'm still interested in seeing M&T comment on stuff, even if I've never heard of it or disagree with them.

The only thing I've really been bummed out by this season has been missing a premiere because of some shitbox hotel's worthless cable and soda-straw internet speed.

No one can like every SP episode its impossible, people have their preferences i still can't find what's so funny about Stanley's cup the whole episode was just mean spirited.

I don't know guys i just don't like the new episodes it just feels like a drag to me with one or two funny jokes, even after watching the funniest episode "taming strange" i still feel like they could've done a lot better with the premise.

I'm bummed. Of course I'm upset Stan's had like, 10 lines in all the episodes so far and maybe 2 mins in all of screen-time but it's more than that. So far the plots of the episodes aren't my cup of tea and I haven't lmao in any show yet. The only one worth watching again was the Murder Porn one. I count that as a Randy and Sharon ep and usually those are entertaining. The episodes so far have been about things I don't care about much- the media, the Zimmerman trial thing, Mylie Cyrus, guns, Yo Gabba Gabba, the goth kids, the vamp kids, Kyle- to an extent. The next 5 episodes better rock to save this season but the chances of that happening is low.

I hate knowing we had to wait almost a year for new episodes and so far I have yet to laugh in the way only Matt and Trey can make me. *le sigh*
I love: Stan, Butters, Cartman, Sharon.

I ship: Stan/Cartman <3

Stan: MMOOMM!!
Sharon: What is it honey? (gasp!) My baby's killed again!
Haa, I love that line.

I think this season has come under extra scrutiny due to the decreased episodes. It's a criticism I understand, but I think it's only fair to point out that it exists. They're giving us less episodes per year, so the ones they give us need to rock! So far, in my and apparently other people's opinions, the majority of them don't. I've found the majority of this season to be so-so with too much reliance on repetitious jokes. Goth Kids 3, Taming Strange, and World War Zimmerman were my favorites so far, and that's not saying much. This week's looks good though. We'll see what happens when the season is all wrapped up.

Very bummed out by this season. I will be honest and say I am not a big South Park fan, but when it is funny and/or clever it does hit the mark for me, and I really did enjoy the last season more so than the others. But 17 has been a major drop in quality.

I did like 'Dawn of the Posers'. Not very culturally relevant, but the jokes, plot, and pacing worked for the most part as well as there being a point to the story. Probably helps that they had a bonus seven days to refine it. It also focused on a character that wasn't Cartman, Randy, or Butters.

The rest are inexcusable; and part of the problem is South Park has become banally predictable. Remember what I said about DotP focusing on someone other than Carman, Randy, or Butters? Those three characters each repeat the same message - Cartman is a dick (to Kyle), Randy is a dumbass, and Butters is naive. No new ground has been broken with any of them for the past five or more years and yet most of the episodes seem to circle them.

Someone needs to take Cartman down a peg or ten. When was the last time anything really bad happened to this sociopathic brat? This last episode I saw the fat bastard fart repeatedly into Kyle's mouth under his manipulation. Hey, "writers", Parker and Stone? If the insanely evil character continually wins all the time he stops being funny. This episode clearly illustrated that; all I could think of was "Jesus Christ! How much more sh*t is Kyle going to take before there's an episode where he kills himself?" In other words, this was humiliation for the sake of humiliation; therefore not funny.

Not that I don't want a conversation about this, but to those of you thinking of responding to me by pointing out the suggestive nature of humor and how in your view farts-in-mouth is automatically funny: It's okay. I just said everything you wanted to say in this paragraph. You can alt+tab back to You Tube poops.

Randy and Butters I could get into more analysis as to why their characters "don't work" but in actually my problem is more of over-saturation and failing to deliver instead of saying these two are fundamentally flawed whereas Cartman needs serious workshop. What the show ultimately needs is more focus on characters outside of the three I mentioned and more out-of-the-box thinking. And also...

ACTUAL. RELEVANT. SATIRE. This is my biggest problem with South Park. When the satire is there, it is usually very very good (like Douche and Turd). But, and in this season in particular, most of the episodes do not have satire and instead rely on cute references to news articles and pop culture; or if there is satire it isn't anything groundbreaking. This does not work for me.

Taming Strange is the exception to everything I just said. Not because it is in any way good (for a good Season 17 episode see Dawn of the Posers) but because despite being out of the box, focusing on Ike (who is not Randy, Cartman, or Butters), and containing satire it was still asininely stupid.

I gotta admit the new episode seems to be genuinely hilarious.

I don't want to bitch or complain about Season 17, nor am I going to weigh in on Trey Parker, Matt Stone, or everyone involved in the show and their hard work. But, looking back, the episode You're Getting Older was a "beginning of the end" episode in a way. They could have easily used that as a device that would properly end the series.

Sigh.

I can see why some people have lost interest . it's due to the fact that South Park has created some of the funniest TV ever and after that bench mark anything less seems bad by comparison. once you have climbed MT. Everest it makes space mountain look weak

I agree its like matt&trey aren't even trying anymore they're just taking every idea/hot topic and cramming it into the episode somehow expecting it to be as funny as it was before.

And i really hate how the "black friday" is just a teaser episode.

Nah. I actually really like this season so far.
I've seen all of the episodes excluding the Goth Kids one, because I didn't get the chance to see the airing and it's not available on the website yet. That's fine.

I'd rate this season a 7.5 out of 10 so far.
I didn't like WWZimmerman, though. I kind of just tuned out of that one. Maybe because I didn't really like WWZ, or pay much attention to the Zimmerman case. idk.

But I really enjoyed the other episodes! (:
"Black Friday" was my favorite by far! And "Informative Murder Porn" was pretty funny too. I CAN'T wait for the sequel to "Black Friday". I love it when they do two-parters!!!

But summing it all up, no, I'm not bummed out by S17.

I've been watching South Park for almost 6 or 7 years now. Watching season premieres and giving each episode a chance (some of them grow on you. You may not like it at first, but you might later!). I can't necessarily say I've been disappointed in ANY season.

South Park is boss, and I applaud M&T for going this long with a cartoon show (and keeping it fresh and funny). AND how they write, animate, record, etc. the episodes in 6 days. They really do a lot, and it's really awesome.

Whether you're talking about live action or animation it't rare for a comedy to stay on the air for more than 5-6 years. The ones that do stick around for extended periods of time keep the cast fresh and the storylines fresh by bringing in new cast members and writers.

I don't think that it's fair to say that Matt & Trey aren't trying anymore. While some of the season 17 episodes are weak that has been the case since season one.

Yea, only Black Friday has been good out of the seven, which is sad.
I'm especially sad they threw Cartman's character development from season 15&16 completely out the window as if it never happened.
As there's only 10 episodes to season anymore, it's rather unsettling.
There have been not-so-good episodes in seasons before, but I've already hated two out of ten, and been unimpressed with the rest (except for Black Friday, which was good).
Top 5
1. Major Boobage
2. Tonsil Trouble
3. Imaginationland
4. Woodland Critter Christmas
5. 1%

Favorite Character: Kyle
Favorite Season: 4
