Whether you're talking about live action or animation it't rare for a comedy to stay on the air for more than 5-6 years. The ones that do stick around for extended periods of time keep the cast fresh and the storylines fresh by bringing in new cast members and writers.
Not really family guy and Simpsons are also pretty much grasping at the straws at this point.

Well it does seem like the case to me here.. i mean when was the last time you had a good satirical episode like Crack Baby Athletic Association or insheeption ?

Except they were fresh and quirky whereas season 17 is just a drag and very very predictable.

Only good episode i can think on top of my head if Ike's puberty episode and now that they've wasted 2 episodes on a crappy Game of porns references i don't have any faith in the last 2 episodes as they still haven't finished game of porns finale.

Seriously this is worse than imagination land which was unnecessarily extended to 3 episodes.

I don't care at all for the new open for S17. The high speed edits of all the old opens really pumps me up for the show. This new open is just too slow and lacking of energy.

I've liked about half the episodes of S17. I'm not liking the trilogy at all, but most everyone else loves it - so it is probably just not my type of episode. I loved Imaginationland and Go God Go, but not this Black Friday thing.

I will always like SP even when the quality is a little off, so I'm glad the series is still going.

My point is that South Park has always been a mix of good and crappy episodes which makes season 17 not much different from the rest.

Sometimes the show go as long as a full season without a really good episode. Nothing from season 17 would make my 'Best of South Park' list, but at least a few of them are better than average.

^ If this was a voting/poll thread, I would agree with what quitpickingonme posted here in this thread. Not much that I could add to it. As quitpickingonme said:

[i]Im actually very liking this new season not bummed at all....Yes maybe there are not that many funny moments then in the other episodes, but this is just a refresh for them. Just give them some time and maybe they episodes will be even better then the others, with extremely funny and original ideas for there episodes...... :) http://denver.mylittlefacewhen.com/medi ... 644609.png

Logic my friends....

Well that sucks because this season only has like 10 episodes and 3 of them is just a trilogy.

I really wish they do more than just 10 the only fun episode for me is Taming Strange and Goth kids other episodes are just a mixed bag.

They ruined it with the black friday episodes. I really wish they only made it a single episode. Anyway I'm thrilled to know that there's going to be way more series to South Park.

Yeah I have to agree with DamonCap here. The NSA and Black Friday episodes will go down as the worst episodes of all time. This new episode "The Hobbit" will probably suck too. There is only one moment in the entire season that I laughed which can be found here: http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/m ... on-package. That is pathetic.

I found The Hobbit to be far and away the best episode of the season. There were a few moments where it dragged for a bit, but good parts more than made up for that.

That makes my reaction to Season 17 basically the same as Season 16. One episode was really good, a few of the others were moderately entertaining, and the rest have virtually no value when it comes to replay value.

The best of South Park is good enough where I'll gladly sit through the mediocre episodes. It's like going to a baseball game hoping to see a home run. You know in advance that you'll have to sit through quite a few strikeouts too, but it's all in good fun.

I'd give Season 17 a rating somewhat north of 70%, but less than 80%. Imo it wasn't a great 100% season. I'm glad for the 10 episodes, though.

I always find a way to enjoy South Park.
Sure this season hasn't been the best, but Season 17 hasn't "sucked." I don't think any South Park season has ever sucked, and I love the message behind most episodes. I even found World War Zimmerman not to be that bad of an episode. I will grow old believing in this show because it is the only show I can sit down and watch every episode of and enjoy the time I spend watching it.

I think the internet has just become an outlet for people to complain.

Were there a couple duds this season? Certainly. Almost every season had them except maybe season 8 (Good Times with Weapons, Awesome-O, Woodland Critter).

In terms of the people complaining about the constant skewing of pop culture and celebrities should go back and look at the early seasons. Barbra Streisand? Robert Smith, Kathy Lee Gifford (how many teenagers today even know who they are?). It's always been common to poke fun at current affairs and culture. As the technology advanced, they were able to become far more relevant simply because they could construct it quickly.

You know, I'm willing to say World War Zimmerman kinda failed to go anywhere and was a general mess of an episode to follow. The Goth Kids episode was a touch disappointing, but wasn't terrible, just very meh. Ginger Cow got hit by a kinda weak ending mostly because it was begging for Cartman to get a comeuppance, but the first two acts were actually rather awesome.

But you know, I enjoyed the hell out of Butters worshiping at the DMV. Not a perfect episode, but it played out well and the Santa twist was something absurd enough to fit in with early seasons.

The Black Friday arc was a nice multi-parter that did exactly what a lot of people have been asking for: the boys being boys. Role playing all while bickering over video game consoles is that.

Ike's puberty was delightfully screwed up while also being current with the ACA website debacle. I like seeing the brothers interact because they are a good character contrast while caring about one another. And the stuff with Foofa/Miley Cyrus was spot on in terms in not only delivering the message of it not being necessary to display your sexuality constantly as well as the fact that you can say it and change nothing.

The Hobbit was one of those episodes that was not as much laugh out loud funny (okay, Kanye got giggles) but also made a very good point concerning how entranced we've become with perfection that doesn't exist. And the ending that goes back to the sad acceptance that you can be right and it not mean a damn.

The last two really hit home as a woman in my 30s. I grew up in an era of attitudes that women can do anything. Female astronauts and executives were a reality rather than fantasy. Riot Grrl bands being unabashed about confronting issues like sexual abuse. To see what its degraded into recent years where girls flaunt their own sexuality and stars glorify their own sexual exploitation/abuse for fame, it rubs the wrong way. And the episodes were spot on in that you can fight all you want, but there's no changing it because most people will go along with it.

Of course, the same nonsense has become the norm for years now. Every season is the worst ever and had no good episodes.

Well after 3 mediocre episodes i just lost all hype for Season 17 i mean the first episode was so unfunny and lame and that was followed by an even mediocre episode.

And recently WW zimmerman is even more disappointing even though the ideas are still interesting the episode is just unfunny

EDIT: Anyway i just finished watching Goth kids and it was "Okay" and it was definitely better than last 3 episodes but considering that there are only 10 episodes in total i'm kinda dissapointed to see that SP is just not as insanely funny it used to be.

Informative Murder Porn was great in my opinion.
Favorite Character(s): Kyle and Kenny
Favorite Episode: Scott Tenorman Must Die
Favorite Season(s): 1, 2, 3, and 8
First Episode Seen: Summer Sucks (officially)
