Obviously trying to convince people not to commit suicide is fine, but "you're an idiot" wouldn't exactly convince me to be happier. Some people can't take the pain of their daily lives anymore, and sorry, but it's their life and their choice.

I confess to having quite a few suicidal thoughts when I feel my worst. Sigh.

my initial thought was that insult. spur of the moment. I assume you sit there, let them cut themselves!? This is a confession thread. so i was allowed to confess my initial response. Now logic has kicked in...

five years ago i was really depressed and really cynical and practically lashed on everyone. I have thought of suicide yet when you think of the finality of death... it doesn't sound like such a marvelous idea

It's great when you do that. I should do that more often. What I'd really like to do is take a weekend, point the car in a direction, drive until I run out of gas (figuratively speaking), stay the night, then drive back.
