I have no issue with companies that make products supporting an act to make piracy harder. It is completely understandable. What isn't is the extent the bill goes and how a game of 6 degrees of separation is enough to get a whole website shut down.

Does something need to be done against piracy? As much as my poor ass hates to admit, yes. Is SOPA the way to go? Are you f*cking stupid?

These companies aren't supporting some random anti-piracy law, they're supporting SOPA, flaws and all. Companies can do what they want but so can we in our complaints against them - as the go-daddy stuff proves consumers can pressure companies to change track.
I do get pissed off by people who feel entitled to watch movies companies spent millions on for free, but this isn't legislation to combat that exclusively, it's SOPA.

I never said otherwise. And I had the idea of a tech blackout before it started appearing to be an option the companies against SOPA were considering, so I feel great to have had an idea that companies are seriously considering, makes me feel smart. .___.

Seriously, though. That is the best way to get the attention of people and politicians and what SOPA could do. I would gladly go a day without YouTube, Facebook, and even Google. But, to work, it would have to be an agreed and concurrent time frame to be done between ALL major search engines. (really, though, it is only 3 that anyone uses.) If Google, Yahoo, and Bing all agreed to shut down all services (except email) that day, I am sure that would have a HUGE impact.

It's not a very complicated idea dude, it just costs hella. That these companies think it's worth it is the only real news. If Cenk's right and this is just to get tech companies giving "donations" to politicians, will amount of info work? It has been massively under and misreported to the main voting public, google sits on what could be the biggest info channel in history though so if they want to get sh*t out there it's pretty easy for them.

Wait...people still use Yahoo and ever stood to use Bing? News to me.
