Yes, I play WoW, and It used to be a lifestyle for a long time. I admit I started playing WoW so much cause I had NO life ATM. I finished school, broke up with my ex -stupid- GF had very few friends. So I gave my soul completely to WoW. Yeah I know I'm a loser and there was better things to do. I know I suck. At least I knew what I was doing to myself and now that I have something to do finally (college) I am barely play the game. If ppl can control how much time they consume in the game then WoW is not a bad Habit. I hate when ppl just go and blame it as if it were some kind of drug. Seriously, it's NOT a drug. It's a game. Nothing more-Nothing less. OK I said too much now :D

I agree 100% (although I probably play a bit more than I should.) It's a perfectly reasonable hobby that has helped me make a bunch of new friends, and it remains one of the only things that can still put a smile on my face.

All you people who bash wow can shove it, Never before has a game brought so many people from different origins together. theres over 5 million people on this earth that play it so they must be doing something right.
I actually registered so I can quote this crappy ass half thought out statement. The problem with WoW is that by itself it is dumbing down half the users that play it. Taking a stab in the dark I'm gonna say 20-50% of the people that play WoW play it religiously meaning all of their free time is devoted to it. This time could be used learning a new skill or learning history or something usefull instead people devote weeks and weeks of hours sometimes months worth of hours on a character, as my friends have, and digress in life. This leads to crappy half ass thought out statements as yours above, you little prick wussy. WoW can kiss my ass, and if it was up to me the game would burn for ruining so many peoples lives. It's not bringing people closer together its ruining peoples lives.
I'm also not saying this about all games, but WoW and mmorpgs in general that try to dominate someones life like that should be stood up against, for the simple fact that millions of people are going to be useless because of it.
As far as doing something right, they made an addictive game thats like crack, drugs have been bashed against because they dominate someones life, in a sense you could put wow in the same category. Any WoW players that play this like I'm saying and try to defend their point just check how many hours you've played your character(s), and tell me that time couldnt have been better spent and shut the f*ck up. When you have kids, which I hope you don't are you going to tell them that growing up your lazy ass dominated a dragon on a game or you gonna tell them a real life story. At the end of the day with WoW when the game is old and outdated, what "fond" memories are you going to have? None is the anwser, your going to think wow that game was fun... and that is whats gonna pop in your head.
Worse than death is ignorance and you sir are ignorant. Grow out of your box and go outside, its nice out today.
That is the most true thing i have ever heard, couldn't have put it any better! I know a guy that lost his kids and wife all thanks to final fantasy. That is why it is good to stay away from these games. Never played it and never will. The episode where they all played it is so true, thats why it was so funny!

Love playing wow but do other stuff aswell. It seams alot of people think World Of Warcraft is bad beacus some people get addicted and therefor think every player is addicted. Psst, try the game and se how easy you get addicted to something, you might find your self wors than the people your complaining about.
By the way, atleast half of the people I play with got girlfriends or wifes and do stuff excpet playing. And the other half, well, lets just say they are a bit to young to be married.

All the popuar kids at school come in wearing WOW T-shirts and spend their free periods questing on their laptops, and listen to the WOW theme on their I-pods. I was thinking of buying a copy, having enough mony for a year's subscription and the game, but I've realised I'm way too behind in leveling up to catch up, there's far more far better games I need to play through first and I wouldn't be able to come to the BBS as much as I'd want :p
This time could be used learning a new skill or learning history or something usefull
The fetal flaw in this seemingly good argument is that people wouldn't spend their time and effort learning or doing something useful if they wern't playing WOW, most of them would either be watching movies, playing video games, reading some magazine, a trashy novel or a porno, posting on a forum like this, or going out partying and getting drunk or having sex with random people. It's the whole entertainments industry that's to blame for this.
It's not bringing people closer together its ruining peoples lives.
Now that's what I call a crappy half thought out statment. The popular kids I mentioned above spend a lot of their time socialising on WOW, but most of them are in the school Vollyball team and half get grades in physics/maths I'd never dream of, so it can't be 'dumbing people down' or ruining people's lives. If the effect WOW has on people can be called 'ruining people's lives' then the entire entertainment's industry and the internet in general should both be banned. Seriously, you'd think single player games that dominate people's lives for 300-500 hours like Elder Scrolls or Bauldar's Gate would get banned before multiplayer ones that actually get people communicating. Like many forms of communication, WOW clearly brings people together, though some individuals think only physical contact is the only way people can really be together, rejecting the fact that who we are is our ideas and that can be put online or in a game very easilly.
they made an addictive game thats like crack
And so did Coca Cola, MacDonnalds, and pretty much any sucessful company. So sue them if 'addiction' is really such an evil thing.
are you going to tell them that growing up your lazy ass dominated a dragon on a game
What are you going to tell your kids? That you got drunk and went to a few night-clubs? That you kicked a ball around? That you shagged a load of girls? That you watched some cool movies and read some great books? How are these things better than playing a video game?
your going to think wow that game was fun.
And that doesn't count as a fond memory in your language? Then any other fun thing you did in your youth, from partying, to playing with your friends, to kissing your girlfriend, to getting involved in the school sports team, to being a member of the debate club, should all count for nothing. Seriously, what memories do you count as fond, if not memories of fun times?
That said, I don't really like the look of the game :p

I play WoW.
I didn't want to, but my family dragged me into it. My mom, brother, aunt, and boyfriend all play. It's okay, but I can only stand about an hour or so at a time at max. It's very repetitive. But it lets me talk to my boyfriend while he's at work, and I'm not paying for it anyway, so...

I answered: "Do I Play What" because neither myself nor my circle of friends have ever heard of it. In fact, I could "google" it to see what it is, but I think I'll pass. Real life coupled with South Park Studios is about my limit. No, I never heard of WoW.

Anyways, I put in "What is Wow" long long time ago. And I don't play wow. I used to play runescape, but not anymore.

WoW is NOT for people with no lives! Sure, it can be very addictive, but it's also a really fun game that millions of people around the world play. You aren't a nerd or a douche just because you play World of Warcraft. If you're addicted to it however, that's a different story. But if your an occasional player, then that's cool too. Stop bashing the gamers. It's not cool.
