The kids are have just won a sledding race. Token says that the only reason they won is because of Eric's fat ass. The girls challenge the boys to a sledding race down Phil Collins Hill. Token says that the boys can't lose thanks to Eric's fat ass. Eric then tosses a rock into the side of Token's head. The people of South Park claim that this was a hate crime and send him to jail.

Hate crimes piss me off because as soon as a white person does anything against someone isnt white its immediately a hate crime but nothing happens to someone is isnt white that does something to a white person.

I find it funny that Trey Parker and Matt Stone complained about federal hate crime laws singling out homosexuals in this episode from 2000 - when in fact gays weren't protected by hate crime laws until 10 years later. You think they would have done some research before complaining about the alleged special treatment that gays weren't actually getting.
And then, as if they were parodying themselves, they have the girl in pink using gay slurs all episode. I love South Park. But Parker and Stone, try not to hide behind these righteous "treat everyone equally" messages while you drop f*ggot, homo, and at least thirteen other gay slurs all in one episode. It's a bit hypocritical.

This episode bothered me a little because I grew up where there are hate crimes. But having moved to Colorado, I can say they don't have the same kind of issues here that they have in the other half of the states. The hate crime issues just aren't the same, maybe because there's hardly any minorities here. So it's more plausible as far as the show goes.
Oh, and when a black person harms a white person they get punished 200 times worse than when it happens the other way around. That's the point. Black people actually don't participate in more crimes than whites, but look at the prison population. Just sayin'.
