ok i dont get why Trey Parker and Matt Stone missed this one...( even thoguh its not that big) During the episode...whe joesph smith found the gold paltes and sheer stones....he then told the townspeople he was to NEVER show the SHEER STONES or the gold plates to anyone.....then how come later when the Martin Harris (the rich to publish the book) come to the house with joesph to translate, he SHOWS the sheer stones....This actually makes it look like he did actually find the stones and the golden plates where the "angel" told him to look....so this slightly looks like that joesph smith wasnt full of sh*t......just something to think about

I bet they just wanted to make Joseph Smith sound like a douche and Martin Harris look dumb. (Martin Harris dum dum dum).
Joseph Smith: I'll translate the book of Mormon with these!
Martin Harris: Rocks?
Joseph Smith: No, they're sheer stones!

They still could've been fake. I thought I remember him reading them out of a box though.

The thing is that the stones which Joseph Smith claimed were "seer stones" were never meant to be used for that purpose. The Urim and Thummim were not magical translation stones, but flipping coins used by the ancient Israelite priesthood to determine the will of Jehovah if they hadn't received any other signs. Urim meant "yes" and Thummim meant "no", so it's no different from heads or tails. This is similar to the other biblical practice of casting lots (dice). Unless Smith was trying to bifurcate between two possible translations, there's no way he could have been using the stones to translate anything.

my favourite in this episode is "hahahaha, that's a great story Sarah!" none of them kids is named Sarah. They're Marc, Jenny, Dave, Amanda and of course Gary, who is the 2nd son and still has his fathers' first name.
I am SURE matt and trey do these things on purpose.

I actually watched this with a Mormon, and he said most of the episode was a little off as far as Joseph Smith's story. He actually thought it was funny though, especially the end ("suck my balls.").
