They've never been that consistent on things like that even before you get to the dissonance of characters who have remained near the same age since the mid 90s.

Keep in mind there was an episode where the boys were gushing over Robert Smith and called Disintegration the best album ever. It IS a damn good album, but it qualifies as 'classic rock' by now. It's actually kinda funny to watch that specifically because of the time gap.

The most recent hint is dubstep, which makes sense since that's what kids are listening to nowadays. If the next music trend involves recording internal bowel functions, Stan will probably be into that.
