if Trey and Matt noticed this then they probably would go into 5th Grade, but i doubt they would bother with making the group look older. This is south park! as long as theyre making us laugh nobody will care if they dont bother changing the age of the kids.

South Park isn't a damn sitcom. This is a cartoon, they don't grow older or get deeper voices. Look at the Simpsons (not that it's anything close to sp) but their characters are the exact same age throughout the series. The fourth grade was just a scenario change but the characters remained the exact same. If the boys became older this would result in so many changes for the worse. Think about it, if they were older there would no longer be any of those episodes where kids can just be kids, no more lord of the rings where they don't understand that they're lugging around a porn DVD that the fifth graders want because they want to watch it, no more childish antics. It just wouldn't make any sense to make them any older or to change their character structure.

If they make it into the 5th grade, then they will have to grow, because in season 3 "Korn's groovy pirate ghost mystery" the 5th graders were taller than them, it would be really strange if the boys don't age in the 5th grade.

One thing that makes South Park hilarious is that they have been in the 4th grade for so long. Heck, they were in the 4th grade back during the 2004 election and the 2008 election. It's currently the year 2011... So that's just funny in my honest opinion. No need to go to the 5th grade.

5th grade would be fine. I think that's the only way they could make fun of whose smarter than a 5th grader.
