If you don't like it anymore, you don't have to keep watching. I see some of you guys complaining on the boards "Oh, South Park's not as good as it used to be, why can't it go back to the way it used to be, blah blah blah..."

The way I see it, South Park has not gotten worse by any measure over the years, it has just changed a bit from the first few seasons. It has gotten less and less about the fart jokes, and more and more about the satire. They've still got the funny.

I love quoting the last week's episode. Now, everytime I hear someone being extremely uppity and self-rightious, I always think "Yeah, I actually want to be part of the soluuutionnn. Thaaaaaaaaanks."

Even "Cartoon Wars" was a very multi-layered episode that commented on so many things. First the fact that it pisses them off when people compare them to Family Guy, second the Muhammad cartoons. We really don't have to comply to the Muslim religion. They don't think twice about us portraying Jesus. Third, the censoring of free speech by certain groups that get pissed off over criticism (i.e. The Catholic League and Scientology. If you handle criticism by lawsuit or threats, you are screwed up. On Comedy Central's part, burying your head in the sand and pretending it never happened never helps either.)

The content of the "Cartoon Wars" episode over "having episodes pulled" may seem a little self indulgent and petty on their part, but it's not. It's like Cartman says "They start by pulling one or two episodes, then pretty soon the show gets cancelled. That's how they got Lavern and Shirly." The basic point is that if this blatent overcensorship is allowed to continue, this will become a place that I'm not sure I want to live in. This is their way of saying "We will not be silenced!"

I loved the last line... "Will freedom of speech prevail, or will Comedy Central puss out? Find out next week!"



Anyway, my point is that you can think whatever you want about the quality of South Park right now, but I for one think they should keep it up!

So I'm probably gonna stand alone here but am I the only one who thinks SP has been sucking as of late? There were a lot of bad episodes last season and now these last 3 episodes this season were TERRIBLE. I can't even remember laughing twice this week (Which I can't say about this weeks Family Guy). Lookin to be me like it may be time to hang up SP and maybe work on more movies.
